Support for Braun-Weisse Hilfe (Brown and White Help)

We have members in St Pauli who have witnessed the activities around St Pauli in the lead up to this week’s G20 summit.

The police’s actions to peaceful parties around St Pauli, plus their willingness to ignore court rulings regarding campsites for people visiting Hamburg, and their decision to enter the campsite and attack campers late at night can only be described as brutal.

In response, Brighton St Pauli fanclub has raised funds to support the victims of police violence, donating €400 to the BRAUN-WEISSE HILFE which is a legal solidarity project from St Pauli fans for St Pauli fans.

The aim of the BRAUN-WEISSE HILFE is to educate the fans as thoroughly as possible about stadium bans, regulations and police networks and state repression against football fans, to offer help and to prevent problems. Since the foundation of the Antirepressionsgruppe in 2004, a whole series of activities have been organized in addition to collecting donations:

• Support for those affected by providing financial and legal assistance

• Support for the nationwide fan rights fund

• Exhibition during the World Cup 2006 “Freedom for the curves – a glance behind the shining façade of the World Cup”

• Solisampler “Freedom for the curves”

• Co-founding the project “Freedom for the terraces”

• Various information events in the Fanladen St Pauli and the Fanräume

• Info stalls, as well as poster and transparency campaigns on game days

If you would like to support the BRAUN-WEISSE HILFE, please send your donation directly to the BRAUN-WEISSE HILFE bank account:

Help Refugees – Follow the ‘Sussex to Calais’ Playlist

Last night we attended a meeting hosted by the Hummingbirds in Brighton, which discussed how people can help Refugees currently camped in Calais and Dunkirk.

On the important point of fundraising, students from the Universities of Sussex, Falmer and Brighton explained how they are running a group called ‘Sussex to Calais’ and asked for people to help them to potentially raise money in the following way:

  1. Spotify is running a ‘Sound Clash’ competition for university societies, with a prize worth £10,000.  See
  2. The prize goes to the society that creates a playlist with the highest number of followers – EASY.
  3. Logon to your Spotify Account (you can log in via Facebook or create an account if you don’t currently use Spotify)
  4. Search for the ‘Sussex to Calais’ playlist
  5. Follow

Currently ‘Sussex to Calais’ are ranked 11th, and are the best-placed humanitarian group looking to help refugees. The competition closes in 19 days (22nd March 2016).

Please share.  Reminders will be posted on Twitter, as well as other updates aiming to support The Hummingbirds and other organisations from Brighton/Sussex doing great work for refugees.

Twelve Points to XMAS!!

Currently sitting at the bottom of Bundesliga-2, St. Pauli have accumulated just 12pts from the 15 games played so far this season. Despites the table being impossibly tight, things are looking bleak (avoiding a midwinter pun).

St. Pauli have four games before the winter break, that’s a potential 12pts!! That would DOUBLE their current total, and probably bring an early retirement to my (so far NOT) ‘Lucky Socks’.

Remaining games are:
Fri 5th Dec, Bochum v St. Pauli 18:30 (CET)
Sun 14th Dec, St. Pauli v Darmstadt 13:30 (CET)
Wed 17th Dec, Ingolstadt v St. Pauli 17:30 (CET)
Sat 20th Dec, St. Pauli v Aalen 13:00 (CET)

Finger’s X’d for a WWWW.
