Winterbreak Nearly Over!!

With just over a week to go until the Winterbreak ends and February is looking crucial with more proverbial ‘six-pointers’ than you can shake a snow globe at!!

FC St Pauli will restart the season sitting in 17th position and will play teams in the next 4 rounds who are all currently in the bottom 7.

Winterbreak Table

Round 20 – SV Sandhausen (away) 7 Feb.

Round 21 – Greuther Fürth (home) 16th Feb.

Round 22 – 1860 München (away) 21th Feb.

Round 23 – Erzgebirge Aue (home) 1st Mar.

Twelve Points to XMAS!!

Currently sitting at the bottom of Bundesliga-2, St. Pauli have accumulated just 12pts from the 15 games played so far this season. Despites the table being impossibly tight, things are looking bleak (avoiding a midwinter pun).

St. Pauli have four games before the winter break, that’s a potential 12pts!! That would DOUBLE their current total, and probably bring an early retirement to my (so far NOT) ‘Lucky Socks’.

Remaining games are:
Fri 5th Dec, Bochum v St. Pauli 18:30 (CET)
Sun 14th Dec, St. Pauli v Darmstadt 13:30 (CET)
Wed 17th Dec, Ingolstadt v St. Pauli 17:30 (CET)
Sat 20th Dec, St. Pauli v Aalen 13:00 (CET)

Finger’s X’d for a WWWW.

Last Fixtures Announced

So the last of the fixtures have been announced… It’s all systems go at the moment, as we’re now based in Leuven, Belgium for the year and have plans to get to a few of the away games coming up; Sandhausen, Köln and the last home match Erzgebirge Aue.

Some great social events happening in the next few months: Leuven has a beer festival at the end of April and we’re looking forward to a few long weekends back in Brighton for both the Great Escape and the fantastic Glastonwick Festivals.

Dates confirmed for first two 2014 fixtures

The dates for Arminia Bielefeld(away) and VfL Bochum 1848(home) have been set for Sunday 9th Feb 1.30pm (CET) and Saturday 15th Feb 1pm (CET) respectively.

We much enjoyed watching the 2-0 away win over Aue. It was a fantastic strike for the first goal, plus seeing a game being played with a light covering of snow surrounding the pitch I can admit to feeling just a little ‘Xmassy’… We’re hoping that Santa brings a jar of bovril to get us through the winter period, or maybe we’ll settle for something mulled and alcoholic.

Plans are being made for a trip to Hamburg for the Bochum match on 15th February. Will follow up with another posting for those interested.

Before then, we have a gig to head to in Brighton. Wob is playing at the Evening Star on Sunday 22nd December; I’ve promised to bring the clotted cream to accompany the mince pies – should be a great afternoon. See you there!!

Wishing everyone a safe and joyful Christmas break

Has anyone got any holiday left? No weekend fixtures (again)!!

Looking forward to taking a couple of days off work and head to Hamburg for the Sandhausen match.

However, fingers were crossed for an easy weekend trip to the Millerntor before the year was over…

With four matches remaining and matches being held on either Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday even the most pessimistic of Brighton St Pauli were stating the “Law of Averages” and pointing that, by all probability, that there should be at least one Saturday game

Here’s the latest batch…

Round 16 Fri. 29.Nov 18.30 CET : FC St. Pauli v 1. FC Köln
Round 17 Fri 6 Dec 18.30 CET : FC Erzgebirge Aue v FC St. Pauli
Round 18 Mon 16 Dec 20.15 CET : TSV 1860 München v FC St. Pauli
Round 19 Fri 20 Dec 18.30 CET : FC St. Pauli v Karlsruher SC

Let’s hope that 2014 will bring a long-awaited weekend game!!!
